秩父華厳の滝は埼玉県秩父郡皆野町、札所34番の水潜寺近くに落ちる落差12mの滝。秩父帯の硬い赤色の岩石（チャート）に懸かる美しい直瀑で、その姿が日光の華厳滝に似ているのが名の由来です。上空滝、不動滝とともに日野沢三滝に数えられ、秩父華厳の滝と上空滝を巡る遊歩道も整備されています。
滝水が流れ落ちる岩盤（チャート）は、放散虫というプランクトンの遺骸もしくは骨格（ケイ酸）が深海底で堆積したもの。
秩父帯と呼ばれるチャートは、太平洋プレート（海洋プレート）の大陸プレートの下への沈み込みに伴い、堆積物が剥ぎ取られて大陸プレートに押し付けられた（付加された）付加体で、実は日本列島はこの付加体の集積です。
つまりは、2億年前～1.5億年前の中生代ジュラ紀に、陸側プレートに付け加わって大陸プレート側の一部になったものが秩父帯と呼ばれるチャートで、日本列島の誕生の仕組みがこの小さな滝に凝縮されているともいえるのです。ダイナミックな地質が観察できることからジオパーク秩父のジオサイトにもなっています。

Chichibu Kegon Falls is a waterfall with a drop of 12m that falls near Suisenji Temple at Fudasho No. 34 in Minano-cho, Chichibu-gun, Saitama Prefecture. It is a beautiful direct waterfall that hangs over the hard red rocks (chert) of the Chichibu Belt, and its name comes from its resemblance to Kegon Falls in Nikko. Along with Kamizora Falls and Fudo Falls, it is counted as one of Hinozawa's three waterfalls.
The bedrock (chert) where the water falls is the remains or skeletons (silicic acid) of plankton known as radiolaria deposited on the deep sea floor.
The chert known as the Chichibu belt is an accretionary complex formed by the sediment being stripped off and pressed (added) to the continental plate as the Pacific plate (oceanic plate) subducted under the continental plate. is the accumulation of this adduct.
In other words, during the Jurassic period of the Mesozoic Era 200 to 150 million years ago, a chart called the Chichibu belt was added to the continental plate and became part of the continental plate. It can be said that it is condensed in the waterfall. It is also a geosite of Geopark Chichibu because you can observe dynamic geology.
